Department of Psychology

Advising Intern

During the summer, the Department of Psychology will be requiring assistance with our substantial advising load. We require an experienced Peer Advisor to assist Dr. Shelley-Tremblay with limited aspects of undergraduate advising.

The Peer Advisor intern will:

●       Meet weekly with Dr. Shelley-Tremblay to receive training on developing materials and continuously improve her advising skills.

●       Be available to assist with advising on our USA Zoom system.

●       Develop and manage the student advising page and supplemental materials to orient students to the advising process.

●       Develop and manage social media accounts for the Department to promote the activities of our students and faculty.

Our office values professional development and would appreciate the opportunity to work with and learn from an intern, most of which are graduate assistants or students at other universities. The hiring and training for an intern will require a substantial commitment from our team, but we believe the benefits will be well worth it.

We hope to acquire a student from the Mobile community as we have very limited financial resources.

Costs:

●       $0 host fee for access to internship portal (using a NODA alternative internship portal and sending job postings to USA College of Education & Professional Studies, USA Career Services, colleges in Mobile (Spring Hill and University of Mobile, service areas, etc.)

●       $3380 stipend for April 28 through the end of July, 31.

We would like the intern to commit to working a 20-hour work week for at least 12 weeks, between April 29th and July 31st, 2024. However, we understand that these applicants are graduate students, who need time to complete their spring semester and prepare for their fall courses.

Total: $3380
